My mission as a teacher is to meet you where you're at, and help you reach your goals.
I bring a positive mindset to lessons, and I ask that my students do too.

Lessons that fit

Every student is unique and learns differently. I have never had a student that couldn't learn to play. My job is to "learn the learner" so that I can teach my students as effectively as possible. 

The art and the craft

Making music is both an art and a craft. In lessons we will discuss the craft of playing the saxophone, including how to break-in reeds (and make them last!) and mouthpiece and horn selection. 

Wider Scope

Lessons assignments can take a number of different shapes. To know the music, I encourage my students to learn about the history of the music they're playing, including time period, events and players.

Not just the horn

In lessons we will spend a great deal of time developing the ear. This includes traditional ear training, as well as transcription. A well trained ear will become a student's best teacher.
